UCL: AMORIM DOWNPLAYS RASHFORD’S BARCA GOALS, POINTS TO HOJLUND’S NAPOLI STRIKE
Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, has played down the significance of Marcus Rashford’s first goals for Barcelona, suggesting they were nothing out of the ordinary.
Rashford, who left United on loan in the summer, scored twice in Barça’s 2-1 Champions League win over Newcastle at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
However, Amorim reminded reporters that another United loanee, Rasmus Hojlund, also opened his account for Napoli in their 3-1 Serie A victory over Fiorentina last weekend.
“Rasmus scored, I am happy for Rasmus also. It is the same thing with him, guys. You are so tough on Rasmus but he scored also, so let’s notice that,” Amorim told journalists at his prematch briefing ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Chelsea.
Hojlund, however, was unable to find the net in Napoli’s 2-0 Champions League defeat to Manchester City on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Amorim dismissed concerns that United may regret selling Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea in the summer, saying his only focus is on winning games.
