UBA INDUCTS 374 YOUNG PROFESSIONALS TO STRENGTHEN WORKFORCE
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has inducted 374 young professionals into its workforce after they completed Cohort 21 of the bank’s Graduate Management Accelerator Programme (GMAP).
The new inductees were drawn from UBA operations across eight African countries, with 345 graduates from Nigeria and 29 from subsidiaries in Guinea, Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, Uganda, Zambia, and Côte d’Ivoire.
The cohort comprises 223 women and 151 men, adding a new pool of young talent to the bank as it continues to build its workforce across the continent.
UBA said its GMAP programme combines technical banking knowledge with practical training in areas including product design, trade finance, and customer experience. The programme has now produced more than 5,000 young professionals.
UBA Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, urged the graduates to prioritise customer service, hard work, discipline, and excellence as they begin their careers.
The bank’s Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba, described the induction as the beginning of the graduates’ professional journey and encouraged them to turn every assignment into an opportunity to demonstrate excellence.
The development highlights UBA’s continued investment in talent development as the banking industry evolves through technology and changing customer expectations.
