UBA, FIDELITY BANK DELAY H1 RESULTS PUBLICATION
United Bank for Africa Plc and Fidelity Bank Plc have announced delays in publishing their audited financial statements for the half-year ended June 30, 2026, citing the need to complete the audit process and obtain regulatory approval.
Both banks have secured approval from the Nigerian Exchange Limited to extend the deadline for publishing their H1 results to September 30, 2026. The extension remains subject to the required approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
UBA said its board approved the bank’s H1 2026 financial statements at a meeting held on August 13, but the accounts still require clearance from the CBN before they can be released to shareholders and the investing public.
Fidelity Bank, on the other hand, said its audited financial statements are still being finalised. The bank said the accounts would be submitted to the CBN for approval once the audit is completed.
Both lenders reminded insiders and connected persons that their respective trading windows remain closed until 24 hours after the audited results are published.
The delays mean investors will have to wait longer for detailed information on the banks’ earnings, asset quality, capital position and overall financial performance during the first half of the year.
The development comes amid a wider pattern of Nigerian banks seeking additional time to complete their audited interim accounts and obtain regulatory clearance.
Fidelity Bank had recorded ₦92.48 billion in profit before tax in the first quarter of 2026, while UBA had already secured board approval for its half-year accounts before the latest extension.
Investors will now be watching September 30 as the revised deadline for the publication of the two banks’ H1 2026 audited results, subject to regulatory approval.
