TWO KILLED AS BANDITS ATTACK SOKOTO COMMUNITY
** **Bandits have killed two people and stolen livestock and motorcycles during an attack on Dukura community in Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attackers reportedly struck on Monday morning after blocking the road linking Dukura and neighbouring communities to Tambuwal market. They were said to have taken away cows, camels, sheep and motorcycles belonging to residents, including commercial motorcycle operators.
The attack reportedly heightened tension in Dukura, Dalijan and other communities within Girkau Ward, including Zugu, Indire, Mazoji, Tungar Kabawa, Runtuwa, Jabga and Sabon Garin Zugu.
Confirming the incident, the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmed Rufai, said the command received information about the attack and deployed personnel to the area.
He said the police engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat, but the bandits had already killed two people and taken away some animals before security personnel arrived.
Rufai said the police were continuing efforts to obtain further details about the incident and strengthen security around the affected communities.
