TWO DEAD IN EASTERN SAUDI AIRPORT ATTACK — AVIATION AUTHORITY
Two Killed, Eight Injured in Saudi Airport Attack
Two people have been killed and eight others injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, according to the kingdom’s aviation authority.
The attack happened on Wednesday evening, October 21. In an update released on Thursday, the General Authority of Civil Aviation said the victims who died were a Saudi citizen and an Indian national.
The injured included a Saudi citizen and seven foreign nationals from India, Yemen, Bangladesh and Nepal. Their injuries ranged from minor to serious, and they were receiving treatment in hospitals.
Airport operations have since resumed, with the authority confirming that air traffic had returned to normal.
Officials said they were working with security agencies to assess the damage and ensure the safety of passengers and airport workers. The statement did not specify the weapon used or identify who carried out the attack.
The incident comes amid an escalation in attacks on Saudi airports and other infrastructure as fighting involving Yemen’s Houthis intensifies. However, responsibility for the Dammam attack was not established in the aviation authority’s statement.
The authority expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Investigations and damage assessments were continuing.
