Two male passengers have been confirmed dead in a road accident that occurred on Thursday shortly after the Isiala Ngwa junction along the Enugu–Aba–Port Harcourt Expressway in Abia State.

About ten other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were taken to the hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for medical attention.

The crash involved a white 18-seater Toyota bus belonging to a well-known transport company operating in the state.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus, which had departed from Umuahia en route to Aba, veered off the road after one of its tyres reportedly burst while in motion, causing the vehicle to somersault several times before landing in the bush.

One of the witnesses, Chimezie McLawrence, advised commercial drivers to exercise caution and avoid excessive speeding to safeguard their lives and those of their passengers.

The scene of the crash is said to be close to the location where another fatal accident occurred in August 2025, which claimed the life of a child.

Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State, Ngozi Ezeoma, stated that two male adults died on the spot.

“Yes, two male adults died on the spot,” she confirmed.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
