TWO ARRESTED OVER KILLING OF POLICE ESCORT OFFICER IN EDO
The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the killing of a police officer, Sergeant Aminu Yusuf, who was shot dead while escorting an expatriate in Benin City.
The tragic incident occurred along First East Circular Road shortly after a visit to a bank. According to reports, a group of four suspected armed robbers ambushed the officer and opened fire on the vehicle he was escorting.
Sergeant Yusuf sustained serious gunshot wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later confirmed dead. The attackers reportedly fled the scene with his AK-47 rifle.
Confirming the arrest, Edo Police spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, said that two of the suspects have been taken into custody. He also revealed that a manhunt is ongoing to capture the remaining members of the gang.
The police have assured the public that all those responsible for the attack will be brought to justice.
