TWO ARRESTED OVER FAKE ALCOHOL PRODUCTION IN ANAMBRA
Two suspects have been arrested in Anambra State for allegedly producing and distributing fake alcoholic beverages, following a police raid on an illegal manufacturing facility.
The operation, carried out by security operatives after intelligence reports, led to the discovery of equipment and materials used in the production of counterfeit drinks.
According to police sources, the suspects were allegedly packaging the fake products in branded bottles to deceive unsuspecting consumers and distribute them across local markets.
The raid also uncovered large quantities of suspected adulterated alcohol ready for sale, which have since been seized as evidence.
Authorities say the suspects are currently in custody and assisting investigators with information on the supply chain and distribution network.
Health officials have warned that consumption of counterfeit alcoholic products poses serious risks, including poisoning and long-term health complications.
The police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on counterfeit goods, especially those that endanger public health and safety.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious products or activities to security agencies.
Investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals connected to the illegal production network.
The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
