TRUCKERS LAUNCH SANITATION CAMPAIGN ON LAGOS PORT ROADS
Truck operators in Lagos have begun a sanitation exercise along major port access roads as part of efforts to improve the condition of the corridors and promote orderly movement.
The initiative is being coordinated by the Lagos State Trucks and Cargo Operations Committee as part of measures to improve compliance and address challenges affecting port operations.
The exercise is also aimed at tackling activities that contribute to congestion and disorder around the port corridors.
The committee said the sanitation drive would be sustained across the affected routes, with truck operators expected to play a greater role in keeping the roads clean and ensuring compliance with established traffic arrangements.
The initiative comes amid wider efforts to improve cargo evacuation and reduce challenges faced by truckers accessing the ports.
Truck operators have previously raised concerns about delays, congestion and other operational difficulties along port access routes.
The committee has also called for better coordination among stakeholders involved in cargo movement, including truckers, terminal operators and relevant government agencies.
The sanitation exercise is expected to complement other measures aimed at improving traffic management and creating a more orderly environment around Lagos ports.
The initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen compliance and improve the overall efficiency of port-related transportation activities.
