TROOPS STORM TERRORIST HIDEOUT IN ADAMAWA, ELIMINATE 21 FIGHTERS

Nigerian Army troops have dismantled a Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist camp in the Kopre Mountain area of Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, killing more than 21 suspected terrorists during the operation.

The operation was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday by troops of Operation Hadin Kai, working alongside the Office of the National Security Adviser Tactical Team. The assault followed intelligence reports indicating the presence and activities of terrorists in the area.

According to the Army, the troops engaged the terrorists in two separate encounters during the operation. More than 21 members of the group were reportedly neutralised, while several others escaped from the area with gunshot wounds.

The operation also resulted in the destruction of the terrorists’ camp and the recovery of items linked to their operations. The military said the action was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds and disrupt their logistics and fighting capabilities.

The Army said the operation demonstrates the continued commitment of troops under Operation Hadin Kai to conduct intelligence-driven operations against terrorist groups operating in the North-East.

The military has also intensified search and rescue efforts in the area following the operation, particularly to locate and rescue persons believed to have been abducted by the terrorists.

The Joint Task Force in the North-East said its forces would continue to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and pursue intelligence-led operations aimed at weakening their ability to operate and launch attacks.

The latest operation comes amid continued military efforts to contain insurgency across Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states, where Boko Haram and ISWAP factions remain active.

The Army said troops would continue operations to locate terrorist fighters, destroy their camps, disrupt their supply networks and restore security to affected communities.
