TROOPS REPEL ISWAP MIDNIGHT ATTACK IN BORNO, KILL SEVERAL TERRORISTS
Nigerian Army troops under Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a midnight attack by suspected ISWAP terrorists on Gajigana town, Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to security sources, the terrorists stormed the community around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, targeting a Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) duty post.
“There was a fierce exchange of gunfire between the terrorists and a combined team of troops who responded promptly to reinforce the defence of the town,” one military source revealed.
The attackers were forced to retreat after suffering unspecified casualties, with traces of blood observed along their withdrawal routes. Normalcy has since been restored to the area.
However, during the confrontation, one CJTF operative, Mr. Bulama Ngala (45), sustained injuries from stray bullets. He was quickly evacuated to the General Hospital, Gajigana, where he is said to be responding well to treatment.
The incident highlights the continued resilience of Nigerian forces and local security groups in containing insurgent threats in Borno, despite ISWAP’s persistent attempts to destabilize rural communities.
