TROOPS NEUTRALISE 48 TERRORISTS, RECOVER ARMS IN BORNO, YOBE
Nigerian troops have neutralised 48 suspected terrorists and recovered several weapons during military operations in Borno and Yobe states as efforts to tackle insurgency in the North-East continue.
The operations were carried out as part of ongoing military campaigns aimed at disrupting terrorist activities, destroying their hideouts and restoring security to communities affected by violence.
During the operations, troops reportedly engaged suspected terrorists in different locations, leading to the deaths of 48 fighters. Security personnel also recovered arms and ammunition believed to have been used by the groups.
The military has continued to intensify operations across the region to prevent insurgents from regrouping and launching attacks on military formations and civilian communities.
Borno and Yobe remain among the states most affected by the insurgency, which has resulted in the loss of lives, displacement of residents and destruction of property over the years.
The security situation has also affected farming, trading and other economic activities, leaving many communities struggling to return to normal life.
Military authorities have repeatedly assured residents that operations will continue until terrorist groups are significantly weakened and lasting peace is restored.
The latest successes are expected to strengthen ongoing efforts to improve security in the North-East, although challenges remain in preventing further attacks and protecting vulnerable communities.
