TROOPS NAB SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER IN NASARAWA, RESCUE ABDUCTED VICTIM IN BENUE

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have recorded fresh gains against kidnapping and other criminal activities with the arrest of a suspected kidnapper in Nasarawa State and the rescue of an abducted victim in Benue State. The operations were carried out separately as part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to strengthen security across the region.

In Nasarawa, troops of Sector 2 arrested a suspect identified as Adamu Lamu at Agyaragu on September 4. The arrest followed information provided by 31-year-old Nehemiah Elisha, who had escaped from his abductors and later spotted Lamu at a local market. Elisha immediately alerted security personnel in the area, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Following his arrest, Lamu was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and possible prosecution. The development highlights the importance of timely information from residents, particularly in areas affected by kidnapping and other forms of criminal activity.

Meanwhile, in Benue State, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion XI rescued Vincent Nyado on September 6. The victim was found tied and abandoned along the Umene–Torkula Road after allegedly being abducted by suspected terrorists. The attackers reportedly fled into nearby bushes after noticing the approaching troops.

Operation Whirl Stroke said the rescued victim has been secured while troops continue efforts to obtain information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects. The task force also urged residents across Benue, Nasarawa and neighbouring areas to provide credible and timely intelligence to security agencies to support ongoing operations against kidnappers, terrorists and other criminal elements.
