Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested a high-profile suspected bandit believed to be a key associate of the notorious criminal gang led by Akiki Utivi, also known as “Full Fire.”

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Saawuan Wuaiyolna, was apprehended on Wednesday at Takum Junction, Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.

According to counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, who confirmed the development via his X handle on Friday, the arrest was made after credible intelligence revealed Wuaiyolna’s movements.

Wuaiyolna, a native of Atereyange in Ukum LGA of Benue State, was allegedly gathering intelligence on military operations in Wukari to aid planned kidnappings and attacks by the gang. He was also found in possession of a motorcycle, which he claimed he brought to sell.

The military described the arrest as a major breakthrough in the fight against the “Full Fire” syndicate, which has been terrorizing communities in parts of Taraba and Benue States.

Authorities assured residents that while the security situation remains calm but unpredictable, troops’ morale and operational efficiency remain high.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
