TRANSFER DEADLINE: STERLING, DISASI LEFT STRANDED AT CHELSEA AFTER FAILED MOVES

The summer transfer window has closed, but two Chelsea stars—Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi—now face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge after failing to secure moves away.

While the Blues managed to offload players like Nicolas Jackson (to Bayern Munich) and Ben Chilwell (to Strasbourg) on deadline day, deals for Sterling and Disasi fell through.

Sterling, who had been part of manager Enzo Maresca’s “bomb squad”, rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia earlier this summer.

The England winger was linked with Fulham and Crystal Palace, but neither deal materialised, leaving him stuck in limbo until at least January.

Disasi, meanwhile, spent part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, but the club opted not to make the move permanent. With no other suitors stepping forward before the deadline, the French defender must now also remain at Chelsea.

Reports suggest both players will continue training away from Maresca’s first-team squad until the January transfer window reopens.

In a smaller twist, Tyrique George also missed out on a deadline-day move to Fulham. However, unlike Sterling and Disasi, the youngster remains firmly in Maresca’s first-team plans, having featured in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham last weekend.

The situation leaves Chelsea with a couple of unsettled players and adds to the growing questions about how Maresca will manage his squad depth in the months ahead.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
