TRANSFER DEADLINE DAY: CLUBS RACE TO COMPLETE LAST-MINUTE DEALS ACROSS EUROPE

European clubs are entering the final hours of the 2026 summer transfer window, with several high-profile deals still being negotiated as teams rush to strengthen their squads before the market closes.

The Premier League window officially closes at 11:00pm British Summer Time on Tuesday, September 1, which is also 11:00pm Nigerian time. Clubs that submit the required deal sheet before the deadline can be granted additional time to complete outstanding paperwork.

One of the biggest stories of deadline day is Manchester City's pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernández. City are reportedly pushing to complete a deal for the Argentine, while Chelsea are considering possible replacements should Fernández leave Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's potential move for a replacement has added another layer of drama to the negotiations, with the London club reportedly considering several midfield options as they assess the possibility of losing one of their key players on the final day of the window.
