TRAGEDY STRIKES NOLLYWOOD: BBNAIJA STAR BRIGHT MORGAN’S MANAGER, VIC MATT, KILLED BY KIDNAPPERS IN ENUGU
The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Vic Matt (born Victor Tobechukwu Okoli), a respected executive producer, film director, and manager of Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate, Bright Morgan.
According to reports, Vic Matt was abducted on Friday near Ntachi Osa, Enugu State, and later killed by his captors. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by filmmaker Ben Cassie, who paid an emotional tribute to him on Instagram.
Cassie described Vic Matt as a man of integrity, passion, and intelligence who stood out in an industry often riddled with challenges.
“It is hard for some of us to see those who genuinely wish us well. You always dropped words of encouragement even when I was most silent. In an industry of snakes and scorpions, you stood different. To be kidnapped and killed is such a heart-wrenching way to leave this earth. We can all live and prosper. Goodnight, Vic.”
Her heartfelt message has since sparked an outpouring of grief across social media, with colleagues, friends, and fans remembering him for his dedication to filmmaking and his unwavering support for young creatives in Nollywood.
A Painful Loss for Nollywood
Vic Matt was known not only for his professional brilliance but also for his humility and calm demeanor. Many who worked with him recall his encouraging words and his vision for telling authentic African stories through film.
His untimely death has renewed concerns about the rising wave of insecurity in Nigeria, with fans and industry stakeholders calling for stronger measures to protect citizens, including those in the creative sector.
For Nollywood and the entertainment community, the loss of Vic Matt is not just personal—it is also a setback for an industry that thrives on the contributions of visionaries like him.
May his soul rest in peace.
