TRAGEDY IN OGUN: MISSING 16-YEAR-OLD BOY FOUND DEAD, BODY PARTS REMOVED IN SUSPECTED RITUAL KILLING
A heartbreaking tragedy has rocked Ogun State following the discovery of the lifeless body of a 16-year-old boy, Lawal Wahab, who was declared missing days earlier.
The young boy’s decomposed body was found along the Old Express Road in Igbile-Ijebu, with his head, wrists, heart, and genitals gruesomely removed, pointing to a possible ritual killing.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, Wahab had been staying with his grandmother and was reported missing by his father, Mr. Lawal Olumide.
“Sadly, on July 23, 2025, his remains were found mutilated,” Odutola said.
“Preliminary findings suggest a ritual motive, given the brutal removal of several body parts.”
Following credible intelligence, operatives from the Omu-Ijebu Division swung into action and arrested 25-year-old Salawu Omikansola, Serefusi Agemo, and other suspects connected to the murder. One of them has reportedly made a voluntary confession captured on video.
The police have handed over Wahab’s remains to his family for burial in line with Islamic rites, while the case and all related evidence are being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran for further investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command reassured the public that justice will be served and urged residents to be more vigilant and report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest police station.
This tragic event is a chilling reminder of the dangers of ritual crimes still present in some communities, and the urgent need for collective vigilance and justice.
