TRAGEDY IN KANO: THREE FEARED DEAD, SEVEN RESCUED AFTER BUILDING COLLAPSE
A quiet night in Kano turned tragic on Sunday when a three-storey building under construction suddenly collapsed in the Abedi area of Sabon Gari, leaving three people feared dead and seven others rescued from the rubble.
The incident, which happened late in the night, also damaged nearby buildings, sparking fear among residents who quickly gathered at the scene.
Emergency teams from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Federal and Kano State Fire Services, the FRSC, and the police were swiftly deployed. They worked through the night to pull survivors from the debris and secure the area to prevent further casualties.
However, officials are worried that more victims could still be trapped underneath the collapsed structure. Rescue operations are ongoing as responders carefully comb through the rubble, hoping to find more people alive.
So far, the exact cause of the collapse remains unknown, and authorities have yet to release an official report on the extent of damage or the total number of casualties.
This sad event highlights once again the need for stricter building regulations and better monitoring of construction projects to avoid such heartbreaking disasters. As rescue operations continue, many families are left anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.
