TRAGEDY AVERTED AS TRUCK RAMS INTO CARS AND TRICYCLE IN LAGOS, MANY INJURED
Panic erupted on Thursday at the Berger Bridge T-Junction in Epe, Lagos State, after a truck reportedly suffered a brake failure and rammed into several vehicles.
The truck, which lost control while approaching the busy junction, crashed into a tricycle (keke napep) and four cars, leaving them badly damaged. Eyewitnesses said the driver shouted that his brakes had failed moments before the crash.
One eyewitness, Mr. Ademola, recounted:
“Before we knew it, the truck had already crashed into the tricycle and several cars. People were screaming and running everywhere.”
Another commuter, Mrs. Kehinde, described the incident as terrifying:
“The tricycle was badly crushed, and several people were injured. Thank God no life was lost.”
Emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and local security operatives, swiftly arrived at the scene. They rescued victims and worked to ease the heavy traffic gridlock caused by the accident.
Authorities confirmed that while no lives were lost, many passengers sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The accident, however, left commuters stranded for hours as traffic stretched across the T-Junction axis.
