TOTTENHAM EDGE ARSENAL 1–0 IN PRE-SEASON CLASH IN HONG KONG
Tottenham Defeat Arsenal in Tight Pre-Season Battle in Hong Kong
Tottenham Hotspur claimed bragging rights in their pre-season tour on Thursday after narrowly defeating North London rivals Arsenal 1-0 in a friendly match played in Hong Kong.
The only goal of the game came in the first half from Pape Matar Sarr, who capitalized on a defensive mistake. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya passed the ball into midfield where Myles Lewis-Skelly was quickly dispossessed. Sarr, spotting Raya off his line, calmly lobbed the ball over the keeper and into the net.
The Gunners, who had previously impressed with victories over AC Milan and Newcastle United, failed to find their usual attacking rhythm and struggled to break down Spurs’ defense.
This result marks Arsenal's first defeat in their 2025 pre-season campaign. However, Mikel Arteta’s side will have more chances to sharpen up before the new season begins, as they turn their attention to the Emirates Cup, where they will face Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal.
For Tottenham, the win will serve as a confidence boost as they continue their preparations under their new system, showing solid team chemistry and tactical discipline.
Fans from both sides are looking forward to seeing how the teams evolve ahead of what promises to be a competitive Premier League season.
