TORY LANEZ FINED $20K AFTER WALKING OUT OF MEGAN THEE STALLION DEPOSITION
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez has been fined $20,000 after a California court found him and his lawyer in contempt during a deposition tied to Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz.
According to a newly released court order, the trouble started during Lanez’s November 14 deposition. When asked routine questions, Lanez reportedly asked what would happen if he refused to answer. After learning that he could face contempt charges, sanctions, and even more jail time, he brushed it off, allegedly saying:
“Whatever the fines are, I’ll pay them. I’m a millionaire. I don’t care.”
Things escalated when Lanez told Megan’s lawyers to “calm down,” called one of them a “liar,” and abruptly walked out. He returned briefly but left again—this time making derogatory remarks—before refusing to continue the deposition altogether.
Lawyer Also Held in Contempt
Lanez’s attorney, Crystal Morgan, was also cited for repeatedly interrupting questioning. The court noted that she made lengthy objections, coached Lanez on how to answer, and refused to follow instructions, even when rulings went against her.
Not the First Disruption
This was Lanez’s third deposition attempt.
The first lasted only 44 minutes before he began insulting Megan’s lawyer.
During the second, he reportedly told prosecutors:
“I’ve got jail for 10 years right now. You can do whatever you'd like to do.”
Trial Set to Begin
Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation case is scheduled to begin on November 17. Lanez previously filed for a protective order hoping to avoid further questioning.
This legal drama continues while Lanez is already serving a 10-year prison sentence for the 2020 incident in which he was convicted of shooting Megan in the foot after a disagreement following a pool party at Kylie Jenner’s home.
