TINUBU: YORUBA HISTORY WOULD HAVE BEEN INCOMPLETE WITHOUT MY ELECTION VICTORY
President Bola Tinubu has stated that the story of the Yoruba people would have remained incomplete had he not emerged victorious in the 2023 presidential election.
He made this remark yesterday during the 8th-day Fidau prayers held in honor of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
Oba Adetona, who passed away at the age of 91, died just hours after the announcement of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s death. Known for his long-standing friendship with Buhari, the revered monarch ruled Ijebuland for 64 years, having ascended the throne on April 2, 1960.
Reflecting on the late king’s influence, Tinubu revealed that the Awujale had encouraged him to contest the 2023 election and had given him his blessings, assuring him of success.
“Our history as a people would not have been as rich or complete if I had not succeeded in the last election,” Tinubu said. “I owe my victory to your unwavering support and the blessings of the late Awujale.”
