TINUBU UNVEILS $3.05BN W’BANK-FUNDED ANTI-POVERTY PROGRAMMES
President Bola Tinubu has launched five major social intervention programmes valued at approximately $3.05 billion, aimed at reducing poverty, strengthening community resilience, and improving access to healthcare and education across Nigeria.
The initiatives, supported by the World Bank and other partners, focus on human capital development, cash transfers, and targeted support for vulnerable households as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Key components include expanded cash transfer schemes reaching millions of poor and vulnerable Nigerians, investments in basic education and primary healthcare reforms, and performance-based incentives for states achieving governance and service delivery targets.
The programmes build on existing efforts like the HOPE Governance Programme and aim to create sustainable pathways out of poverty through skills development, agricultural support, and improved social safety nets.
Government officials described the launch as a significant step towards inclusive growth and long-term economic transformation, with emphasis on data-driven targeting and accountability.
