Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will pay a two-day official visit to the state to commission selected projects and participate in the Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival.

According to the governor, the President is expected to be in Kebbi between February 11 and 14, during which he will inaugurate key projects executed by the state government and take part in activities marking this year’s Argungu festival.

Idris made the disclosure on Sunday while receiving defectors from various political parties in Jega Local Government Area who have joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He called on residents of the state to come out en masse to welcome the President, explaining that while not all completed projects may be commissioned due to time constraints, several strategic projects would be inaugurated during the visit.

The governor also noted that this year’s Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival is expected to attract participants from across Nigeria and other parts of the world.

Speaking on the recent wave of defections, Idris welcomed the new APC members and assured them of fairness and equal opportunities within the party.

He further stated that his administration has implemented a number of development projects in Jega Local Government Area and pledged to sustain development efforts across Kebbi State.

The Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, which began in 1934 as a peace-building initiative between the Sokoto Caliphate and the Kebbi Kingdom, marks its 61st edition this year. The festival was postponed in 2025 to allow for infrastructural improvements.
