President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to visit Kebbi State on Wednesday to convey the Federal Government’s sympathy following the abduction of schoolgirls from Maga Girls’ Secondary School.

The directive was disclosed in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who assured families of the abducted students that the government is working tirelessly to ensure their swift and safe release.

Tinubu praised Governor Mohammed Nasir Idris for efforts made to prevent the attack and expressed regret that the bandits succeeded despite prior intelligence indicating a possible strike.

The President called on residents in communities experiencing security threats to collaborate with security agencies by sharing useful intelligence.

“I urge you in areas facing security challenges to share information and intelligence that will help the military, the police and the DSS to make the communities safe,” he said.

Tinubu expressed deep sadness over the incident, reiterating that the protection of schoolchildren remains a top priority for his administration.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
