TINUBU RESPONDS TO TRUMP’S THREAT: “NIGERIA WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED”
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria will not be intimidated by foreign threats, insisting that the country will continue to assert its sovereignty and defend its people against terrorism and misinformation.
The President made this statement in a post shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday, just days after former U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly threatened potential military action against Nigeria over alleged attacks on Christians.
Tinubu dismissed the threats, saying Nigeria would engage with the international community with “calm, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose.”
“We are indeed faced with terrorism — a challenge Nigeria has faced for almost two decades, and we will not back down. We will decisively defeat terrorism and claim victory in this battle,”
the President said.
He stressed that national security is non-negotiable, assuring Nigerians that his administration remains fully committed to protecting every citizen regardless of faith or background.
“Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle. With unwavering courage and a steadfast commitment to the rule of law, we will prevail,”
Tinubu added.
The President also called on international partners to continue supporting Nigeria in its ongoing efforts to strengthen peace and stability, saying collaboration remains crucial to sustaining progress made in recent years.
Trump’s controversial remarks have drawn global attention, as he allegedly claimed that the U.S. was prepared to take action if Nigeria “continues to allow the killing of Christians.” The former president had also reportedly designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” over allegations of religious persecution.
However, Tinubu’s firm response underscores his administration’s stance that Nigeria’s sovereignty cannot be undermined by external pressure and that the government is capable of addressing its internal challenges through lawful and decisive means.
