TINUBU RELOCATES OFFICE OF SURVEYOR-GENERAL TO PRESIDENCY FOR BETTER OVERSIGHT
Tinubu Moves Office of Surveyor-General to Presidency to Boost Geospatial Coordination
President Bola Tinubu has approved the relocation of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGoF) from the Ministry of Works to the Presidency, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening the country’s management of geospatial data and land administration.
The decision was announced by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held on Thursday at the Presidential Villa.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the directive aligns with the administration’s reform agenda and growing reliance on geospatial intelligence for effective national planning, infrastructure development, and security operations.
While no detailed explanation was provided for the shift, Idris emphasized that the relocation is designed to enhance coordination and improve oversight of Nigeria’s mapping and land data systems.
The Office of the Surveyor-General is Nigeria’s top agency for geospatial services and mapping, playing a vital role in providing accurate land information and data essential for policymaking and national development.
This development signals the federal government’s increasing focus on technology-driven planning and more centralized management of critical national data systems. It also reflects the Tinubu administration’s broader aim to streamline operations for efficiency and better results.
