TINUBU REFORMS HELPING STATES DELIVER PROJECTS, PAY SALARIES — RADDA
Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has said the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu are helping states execute development projects and meet salary and pension obligations without relying on loans.
Radda said Katsina State had moved away from borrowing to pay workers’ salaries, noting that his administration was currently able to execute projects while meeting its financial commitments.
He said the reforms and support from the Federal Government had increased the resources available to states and strengthened their capacity to deliver development programmes.
According to the governor, Katsina State is currently executing projects without taking loans, while salaries and pensions are being paid as and when due.
Radda said the situation was different in the past, when the state depended on borrowing to meet some of its obligations, including the payment of workers’ salaries.
He urged Nigerians to assess political leaders based on measurable achievements rather than political rhetoric, arguing that leaders have a responsibility to fulfil the promises made to citizens.
The governor also highlighted local government financial autonomy as one of the reforms contributing to improved governance at the grassroots.
He said greater financial capacity at the state and local government levels would allow governments to implement projects that directly affect residents.
Radda maintained that leadership should be built on trust and accountability, urging public officials to ensure that available resources are used to deliver meaningful development.
He also commended initiatives focused on grassroots development and the empowerment of communities, saying such programmes could complement government efforts to improve living standards.
The governor said the reforms would continue to provide states with opportunities to strengthen their finances and improve service delivery.
