TINUBU NOW CHARGES MEDIA TO HOLD STATES AND LGS ACCOUNTABLE
President Bola Tinubu has urged media practitioners across the country to play a proactive role in ensuring that states and local government councils are held accountable in their governance. Speaking during a meeting with media executives in Abuja on Tuesday, Tinubu emphasized the critical role of the press in promoting transparency, good governance, and service delivery to citizens.
According to the President, a vigilant media is key to checking corruption, improving efficiency, and guaranteeing that government policies positively impact the populace. “The media must continue to serve as the eyes and ears of the people, holding states and local governments responsible for their actions,” he said.
Tinubu also highlighted the importance of ethical journalism and factual reporting in fostering public trust and strengthening democratic institutions. He encouraged journalists to investigate and report on government activities without fear or favor, stressing that accountability should extend to all levels of governance.
The President’s remarks come amid growing public concerns over delays in service delivery and mismanagement in several states and local government areas. By urging the media to be more engaged, Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and good governance.
