TINUBU IS MY POLITICAL TEACHER, APC CHAIR DECLARES
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has hailed President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s finest politician, expressing pride in learning the art of politics under his mentorship.
Yilwatda made the remarks on Saturday during his conferment with the traditional title of ‘Kaeh-rit’ in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State.
A former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction under Tinubu, Yilwatda was appointed APC National Chairman in July, following the removal of former Kano State governor Abdullahi Ganduje by the party leadership led by Tinubu.
At the ceremony, Yilwatda described Tinubu as having “adopted” him politically and praised his guidance in governance and party leadership.
“I’m learning from the best leader, Asiwaju Tinubu. Mr. President is one of the finest politicians you can learn from, and since he adopted me as his political son, I’ve learned so much from him. He is teaching me, and I am learning. So, if you see me succeeding, it is because I am learning from the very best politician Nigeria has ever produced. I aspire to achieve what he has accomplished and become one of the country’s leading politicians,” Yilwatda said.
In a bid to promote food security, the APC National Chairman also donated N10 million, seedlings, and farm inputs to farmers in Kanke LGA, supporting President Tinubu’s initiatives to boost food production and reduce poverty.
Yilwatda expressed optimism about Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s recent defection to the APC, noting that Plateau State would benefit from having both government and party structures aligned under a single platform.
He stressed APC’s commitment to inclusive membership, highlighting that every member, whether new or long-standing, enjoys equal rights within the party.
“The person who joins APC today has the same rights as someone who has been here for a thousand years. As the government and its supporters come together, we now have a single family working for the benefit of Plateau. Our national and local structures will be aligned to serve the people of Plateau,” he stated.
The traditional title conferred on Yilwatda in Kanke LGA is the second he has received in less than two weeks, following a similar honour from the Tiv nation in Benue State in recognition of his humanitarian contributions.
