President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday inaugurated the newly remodelled and redeveloped Premier Hotel, Ibadan, describing the iconic facility as a symbol of national asset restoration and economic renewal.

The President, represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume, commissioned the 62-year-old landmark perched on Mokola Hill. The extensive rehabilitation, undertaken by Odu’a Investment Company Limited, has transformed the historic hotel into a modern hospitality destination with upgraded rooms, executive suites, conference facilities, a swimming pool, fitness centre, and premium lounges.

Speaking at the event attended by South-West governors led by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as Chief Host, Tinubu emphasised that the project reflects the resilience of institutions established by visionary leaders of the old Western Region. He noted that Nigeria’s economic reforms are yielding tangible results and urged investors to capitalise on emerging opportunities.

The redevelopment is expected to boost tourism, hospitality, and economic activities in Oyo State and the South-West region. The Premier Hotel, originally commissioned in the 1960s, had undergone significant decline before the multi-billion-naira intervention to restore its glory.

Dignitaries praised the project as a demonstration of commitment to preserving Nigeria’s heritage while driving private sector-led development and job creation.
