President Bola Tinubu has clarified that he never pressured his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, to convert to Islam. Speaking during the funeral service of the mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, in Jos, Plateau State, the President emphasized the importance of religious tolerance and mutual respect. Tinubu, who said he was born a Muslim and married to a Christian pastor, noted that love and understanding have always guided their marriage. “Hate is not an option for us,” he said, adding that although he inherited Islam from his parents, he never sought to change his wife’s faith. “I believe in the freedom of religion; we are all praying to the same God,” he added. The President called on Nigerians to rise above religious divides and promote unity and peace, stressing that love for one another should take precedence over differences in faith.
"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
