TINUBU HAS CONSTITUTIONAL POWER TO REMOVE SERVICE CHIEFS – DANTATA
Security expert, Salihu Dantata, has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s recent reshuffle of the Service Chiefs.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, Dantata noted that as Commander-in-Chief, President Tinubu possesses the constitutional authority to dismiss or appoint any Service Chiefs.
He was reacting to the President’s decision to reorganize the leadership of the armed forces as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national security framework.
Dantata said, “At first, no one expected it; it came as a surprise. But beyond that, President Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief, has the constitutional right to relieve any Service Chiefs of their duties.
“This is a global practice. When Service Chiefs are appointed and the desired results are not achieved, especially amid security challenges, it becomes necessary to replace them with new ones.”
