President Bola Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as a trusted companion who has remained by his side through different stages of his life. In a birthday message issued on Monday, September 21, the President praised her patience, courage, compassion and continued support, saying she had shared his burdens and provided counsel during difficult moments. Tinubu also described Oluremi as the person who understands him deeply, noting that her presence and prayers had helped him through periods of uncertainty.

The President said one of the qualities he values most about his wife is her willingness to offer honest advice, even when it may be difficult for him to hear. He referred to her as his “truest friend and confidante,” saying she does not hesitate to tell him what he needs to know. Tinubu recalled that after demanding days, Oluremi would wait until they were alone before giving him her perspective, adding that he had always valued her honesty and understanding. He also invoked a Yoruba saying, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” meaning that a good wife is her husband’s crown, while also referring to the biblical description of a virtuous woman.

Tinubu further praised Oluremi for her role in raising their children and grandchildren, saying her influence had helped shape the family’s values of faith and kindness. He also highlighted her humanitarian activities, recalling her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative under his administration. According to the President, her efforts have provided support to young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country. He also commended her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her as someone whose concern for vulnerable people extends beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.

Reflecting on their years together, Tinubu said their relationship had been strengthened by the difficult decisions, sacrifices and personal experiences they had shared. He recalled spending long hours discussing major decisions and said laughter and prayer had helped them navigate many challenges. The President stated that their long journey together had shown him the importance of having a supportive partner, adding that Oluremi had remained a source of strength and understanding throughout their marriage.

Tinubu concluded his birthday tribute with a declaration that he would make the same choice if given the opportunity to begin his life again. He thanked Oluremi for the life they had built together and expressed his appreciation for the love and support she had given him and the family. The President wished the First Lady many more years of good health, happiness and fulfilment, praying that the years ahead would bring her the same comfort and joy she had given to him and others.
