TINUBU APPOINTS CAC CHAIR, NOMINATES SEVEN NPC COMMISSIONERS
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of a new chairman for the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and nominated seven individuals as commissioners for the National Population Commission (NPC), in a move aimed at strengthening key federal institutions.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued by the presidency, which said the decisions formed part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to improve governance, institutional efficiency, and service delivery across government agencies.
According to the statement, the newly appointed CAC chairman will oversee the activities of the commission responsible for the registration and regulation of companies and businesses in Nigeria. The CAC plays a vital role in promoting transparency and ease of doing business by ensuring that corporate entities comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
The presidency noted that the appointment is expected to enhance the commission’s capacity to support economic growth by facilitating business registration processes and maintaining an efficient corporate regulatory framework.
In addition, the President forwarded the names of seven nominees to serve as commissioners in the National Population Commission to the National Assembly for confirmation. The NPC is responsible for conducting population censuses, demographic surveys, and other data-gathering activities essential for national planning and development.
Officials said the nominations are intended to strengthen the commission ahead of future demographic exercises and to improve the accuracy and reliability of population data used for policy formulation.
The presidency urged the nominees to bring professionalism, integrity, and dedication to their roles once confirmed, noting that effective institutions remain critical to the success of the administration’s governance and development agenda.
Observers say the appointments underscore the government’s focus on revitalising key agencies that play strategic roles in economic management and national planning.
