Drama unfolded in a Kaduna Customary Court as 37-year-old Linda Stephen filed for divorce from her husband, Felix Stephen, citing his excessive sexual demands and physical abuse.

Linda, a resident of Ungwan Sunday, revealed in court that their six-year marriage had become unbearable due to her husband's insatiable desire for intimacy. She alleged that Felix often forced her into prolonged intercourse, sometimes lasting from midnight until the early hours of the morning, even as she cried in distress.

The distressed wife further claimed that whenever she rejected his advances, he resorted to physical violence, even in the presence of their two children. Unable to endure the ordeal any longer, she moved out three months ago and has resisted pleas from family members to return.

“I can’t stand his excessive sexual urge. He likes sex too much, and I can’t bear it anymore. Even when I cry, he doesn’t stop,” Linda lamented in court.

Felix, however, begged the court not to grant the divorce, professing his love for his wife. He insisted that he was willing to change and had made several attempts to reconcile, including involving his family and friends.

“I have taken my uncles and friends to her parents' house to plead with her, but she refused to listen and walked out on us,” he said.

Presiding over the case, Judge John Dauda adjourned the hearing until May 6, allowing time for potential reconciliation while urging both parties to maintain peace.

As the case continues to trend online, social media users are debating whether sexual incompatibility should be grounds for divorce. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
