Tragedy struck Dabagi community in Dange-Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Sunday night as armed bandits launched a deadly raid, killing three residents and abducting several others.

The attackers reportedly stormed the village under the cover of darkness, firing shots wildly and creating chaos among frightened locals.

According to security analyst Bakatsine, who shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), the bandits “killed three people and kidnapped an unspecified number of male and female residents.”

A local resident who witnessed the horrifying scene said the attackers came in large numbers and operated freely for several minutes without any resistance.

“They came in large numbers and started shooting. Three people were killed instantly, and they went away with several men and women,” the source said.

The victims were reportedly taken into the surrounding bush, with no word yet on their whereabouts.

The attack adds to the growing concern over insecurity in parts of northern Nigeria, where banditry and kidnappings for ransom have become a recurring nightmare for many rural communities.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement or confirm if any rescue efforts are underway.

Locals are once again calling on the government and security agencies to step up efforts to protect lives and bring an end to the persistent violence in the region.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
