At least three people were injured in a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Monday night along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, near Iron Market in Ota, Ogun State.

The crash involved a Toyota Camry, a commercial Suzuki bus (with registration number KRD 246 YK), and an unregistered tricycle. According to the Ota Divisional Commander of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr. Salau Hammed, the incident happened around 8:20 p.m.

Mr. Hammed said that speeding was the primary cause of the crash.

“The Camry was reportedly speeding and lost control before ramming into the tricycle and the bus,” he stated.

Out of the 16 people involved in the crash, two men and one woman sustained various degrees of injuries. The victims were quickly taken to Adetutu Hospital in the Ilepa area of Ota for treatment.

TRACE officials responded swiftly to the scene, and all vehicles involved have since been cleared from the road to ease traffic.

Mr. Hammed used the opportunity to remind motorists of the dangers of excessive speeding, particularly at night, urging drivers to stay alert and obey traffic rules.

“Speeding continues to be a major cause of road crashes. We urge all drivers to slow down, especially during nighttime travel,” he warned.

Authorities continue to monitor the area and have assured residents of their commitment to road safety and swift emergency response.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
