Police arraign suspects before magistrate court following fraudulent real estate transaction targeting community chief in Uvwie Local Government Area

Three individuals have been remanded in custody following their formal arraignment before a magistrate court in Delta State for allegedly defrauding a prominent community leader of N5.4 million in a fake land transaction.

The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command after a formal petition was lodged by the community chief, who reported that the group presented forged land ownership documents, official seals, and survey plans to facilitate the illegal sale of a parcel of land in the Uvwie Local Government Area.

According to police prosecution counsel, the suspects collected the sum of N5.4 million as full payment for the property before the victim discovered that the land in question belonged to another party and that the presented title documents were counterfeit.

Subsequent police investigations revealed that the syndicate had operated similar fraudulent real estate schemes targeting unsuspecting property buyers across Effurun, Warri, and surrounding urban centers in Delta State.

The presiding magistrate ordered the remand of the three accused persons to a correctional facility pending further hearing and legal advice from the State Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
