THREE ARRESTED IN GOMBE OVER ALLEGED HUMAN REMAINS RITUALS
Three men have been arrested in Nafada Local Government Area of Gombe State over alleged ritual activities involving human remains.
The incident, which occurred on February 24, 2026, came to light after Zakari Ibrahim, 45, of Barwo Sabon Gari Village, reported seeing Umar Ibrahim, 30, of Madaki Quarters, Barwo Winde District, digging a grave at Barwo Sabon Gari Grave Yard.
During interrogation, Umar Ibrahim reportedly admitted that he had been sent by his father, Ibrahim Usman, 60, to retrieve body parts from a deceased person for ritual purposes. He also confessed that in 2025, he had previously exhumed a human toe from the same graveyard and handed it to Alhaji Bappa Abdu, 35, of the same area.
“All three suspects have been arrested by the police and have reportedly confessed to the alleged crimes. Investigations are ongoing,” said Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.
