THE MINDSET THAT TOOK ME FROM CLUELESS TO CONFIDENT BY ADEDIRAN PETER ADESINA
When I got offered a logistics job in Ilorin, there was just one small problem:
I didn’t know how to drive.
But when they asked if I could, I said, “Yes.”
Sounds crazy? Maybe. But deep down, I believed something stronger than fear:
I could figure it out.
Day One: Chaos.
I was sweating before I even turned the key. The gear-stick felt like a puzzle I didn’t understand. Honks came at me from every direction. I stalled. People stared.
Embarrassed? Absolutely.
Defeated? Not yet.
Day Two: Still Rough.
Almost gave up. Almost told them the truth. Almost walked away.
But I didn’t.
Instead, I showed up again.
Then Something Shifted…
I began to understand the rhythm of the road.
How the car communicated.
How traffic moved like a dance — awkward at first, then familiar.
Mistakes became lessons.
Fear became focus.
And before I knew it, driving became second nature.
My boss never found out I had no experience.
(Well... until now, I guess.)
But more importantly, I discovered something powerful about myself:
👉 I might not always have the skill at the beginning,
👉 But I always have the mindset to show up, learn fast, and grow.
Here’s the truth:
Success doesn’t start with having all the answers.
It starts with the courage to say yes,
even when you’re still figuring it out.
So, if you’re waiting to feel “ready” before taking the leap — don’t.
Show up first.
The rest will follow.
