Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori, popularly known as TG Omori, has claimed that his safety has been threatened following controversial comments he made about same-sex relationships.

The controversy began over the weekend when TG Omori took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his opinion, describing homosexuality as “evil.” His statement sparked widespread debate online.

“Having same gender sex is evil,” he wrote, igniting strong reactions from social media users and media outlets.

TG Omori has now revealed that he has been receiving death threats after a magazine accused him of leveraging the controversy to sell glasses. On X, he condemned the publication, accusing it of gaslighting a global audience and putting his life at risk.

“This is a media house trying to set me up and risk my life by gaslighting a global community they serve to blacklist me for speaking my truth in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Death threats and wishes have been sent to me day and night, threatening my safety and security as a citizen,” he wrote.

The incident has intensified discussions around freedom of expression, social norms, and safety for public figures in Nigeria.

TG Omori’s statement comes amid ongoing debates in the country over LGBTQ+ rights, cultural values, and the role of media in shaping public opinion.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
