Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have killed four soldiers and one civilian in an attack in Borno State.

The incident occurred around noon on Wednesday in the Mussa community, within Askira/Uba Local Government Area.

The council chairman, Mada Saidu, confirmed that the civilian victim was a woman, while four soldiers also lost their lives during the attack.

Military sources said the deceased troops were personnel of the 115 Task Force Battalion, who were attempting to repel the insurgents and prevent them from entering the town.

According to the sources, the attackers launched a coordinated assault aimed at infiltrating the community, but were resisted by the troops, though four soldiers were killed in the process.

Residents reported hearing intense gunfire for about 30 minutes, causing panic as many fled their homes.

Locals noted that the military’s resistance helped stop the attackers from gaining access to the town, preventing what could have been a more devastating incident.

The attack underscores ongoing security challenges in the region, as insurgent assaults on both civilians and military positions continue across Borno State.
