TERRORISM TRIAL: NNAMDI KANU CHALLENGES JUDGE, SAYS ‘YOU CAN’T CONVICT ME’
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has declared that no court can convict him without a written law in place.
Kanu made the statement in anger after his trial session at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.
Visibly upset, the Biafra agitator maintained that it was impossible for anyone to convict him, insisting that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act under which he is being tried has been repealed, rendering the charges invalid.
Kanu, who is facing terrorism-related charges before Justice James Omotosho, refused to open his defence even after the prosecution had closed its case.
Following his refusal, Justice Omotosho scheduled November 20 for judgment in the trial, which has dragged on for nearly a decade.
Speaking openly in court, Kanu said:
“You can’t convict me without a written law. Are you insane? It’s not possible. Nobody can. I’m Nnamdi Kanu — who is going to try it?”
