TENNIS TOURNAMENT OFFERS US SCHOLARSHIPS, ₦150,000 GRANTS
Young players are competing for educational grants and potential US scholarships at the Tennista Foundation Junior Tennis Tournament in Lagos Country Club Ikeja.
The three-day tournament, organised by Tennista Foundation in partnership with American Business Council Nigeria, features U-16 and U-12 categories for both male and female players.
Winners in each category will receive ₦150,000 educational grants, alongside tennis equipment and other prizes, while runners-up will get ₦100,000 and similar packages.
Foundation President, Michael Nwoseh, said the initiative is aimed at using tennis as a pathway for education and empowerment, including securing collegiate scholarships in the United States for outstanding talents.
He added that this year’s edition has expanded in scope and sponsorship, with equal prize packages introduced to encourage more female participation.
Stakeholders say the tournament provides a platform for talent discovery, skill development, and exposure, helping young athletes build both sporting and academic opportunities.
