TELECOMING LAUNCHES DCB SOFTWARE TO STRENGTHEN AFRICAN MARKET PRESENCE
Telecoming, a global leader in Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) solutions, has launched DCB Software South Africa as part of its strategy to expand deeper into the African market. The new local entity aims to build stronger partnerships with telecom operators and accelerate the adoption of secure mobile payment solutions across the continent.
The move marks a significant milestone for the company, which specializes in enabling seamless billing for digital content and services directly through mobile operators. By establishing a dedicated presence in South Africa, Telecoming seeks to tap into the country’s growing digital economy and use it as a launchpad for broader operations in Africa.
Javier de Corral will lead the new South African entity, focusing on business development, forging partnerships with local telecom operators, and expanding the company’s footprint. Cyrille Thivat, CEO of Telecoming, described the launch as a key step in the company’s global expansion strategy, emphasising Africa’s huge potential for Direct Carrier Billing.
“South Africa remains one of the most advanced markets for DCB in Africa, and we see tremendous opportunities to support operators and content providers with reliable, secure, and easy-to-use payment solutions,” Thivat said.
Direct Carrier Billing allows users to pay for apps, games, streaming services, and other digital content by charging their mobile phone balance. This is particularly valuable in markets where many people do not have traditional bank cards or prefer not to share banking details online. Telecoming’s technology has already shown strong performance in South Africa, where millions of users rely on carrier billing for digital entertainment.
The launch comes at a time when Africa’s digital content market is expanding rapidly. More people are using smartphones for gaming, video streaming, music, and other online services. However, convenient and secure payment methods remain a challenge in many areas. Telecoming believes its solutions can help bridge this gap while supporting telecom operators in generating new revenue streams.
This development strengthens Telecoming’s long-standing commitment to the African market. The company has previously released reports highlighting the growth potential of DCB across the continent and has worked with partners to fight digital fraud and improve payment security.
With the new South African base, Telecoming plans to roll out more tailored solutions for local operators and content providers. The company also aims to expand into other promising African markets in the coming months.
For millions of users across Africa, easier and safer mobile payments could unlock greater access to digital services, education tools, entertainment, and business opportunities. Telecoming’s expansion reflects the growing confidence of international fintech players in Africa’s digital future.
The company said it will continue investing in local talent and partnerships to ensure its solutions meet the unique needs of African consumers and businesses.
