TECNO has unveiled fan zones and AI-powered pop-up stores in Morocco as part of its Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 activations, using the tournament to bring its artificial intelligence technology closer to football fans in major urban centres.

The smartphone company said on Wednesday that the activations, set up in Rabat and Casablanca, were designed to extend its presence beyond stadiums and into public spaces where fans gather during the competition. In total, TECNO launched four experiential venues—two fan zones and two pop-up stores—operating simultaneously in both cities.

The initiative is part of TECNO’s “Power Your Moment” AFCON 2025 campaign, which began at the tournament’s opening ceremony and has since focused on engaging the public throughout the competition.

The AI-powered pop-up stores, located near Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca and Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, allow visitors to interact directly with TECNO’s latest smartphones. Fans can explore AI-driven features across photography, gaming, content creation, and productivity, supported by interactive installations, phone customisation stations, and on-site product demonstrations.

TECNO emphasised that the pop-up spaces are designed as immersive experience centres rather than traditional retail outlets, enabling consumers to discover how AI technology can enhance everyday life while connecting digital innovation with football culture.

In addition to the pop-up stores, TECNO set up open-access fan zones at Anfa Park in Casablanca and OLM Souissi in Rabat. The fan zones, open on match days without the need for purchase or registration, feature football skill challenges, photo activities, giveaways, and informal product discovery areas to encourage community participation.

Cultural performances, including live football juggling acts and showcases of African music and dance, were introduced on 21 December and are scheduled to return on 18 January as part of the programme of activities running alongside the tournament.

By activating in two of Morocco’s largest cities and maintaining a presence across multiple match days, TECNO aims to stay closely connected with African fans throughout AFCON 2025, positioning its AI-powered smartphones as accessible tools while embedding the brand within the continent’s biggest football event.

"This represents a significant development in our ongoing coverage of current events."
