Technology, financial services and digital infrastructure leaders are expected to converge in Lagos on Thursday as TechEconomy marks its ninth anniversary with a conference focused on Nigeria’s digital economy.

The GrowthX by TechEconomy conference, themed “Driving Digital Growth Through Innovation and Collaboration,” is scheduled to hold on September 24 at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island.

Discussions at the event will cover data localisation, digital payments, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital infrastructure and the changing economics of Nigeria’s fintech industry.

One of the sessions will examine data localisation, identity and the future of secure payments, with industry executives expected to discuss the implications of local data requirements for banks and fintech companies.

The conference will also explore the development of artificial intelligence in Africa, including the need for computing capacity, local data, skilled personnel and investment to build applications suited to African markets.

Another session will focus on Nigeria’s fintech sector and the balance between innovation, regulation and the cost of scaling technology companies.

Futurist and cybersecurity expert David Adeoye Abodunrin is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on trust and cybersecurity in the development of digital payments and infrastructure.

Other speakers include executives from Open Access Data Centre, FCMB, UniCloud Africa, eTranzact, TeamApt and other technology and financial services companies.

The anniversary programme will also feature the Technology Innovation and Leadership Awards, which will recognise individuals and organisations contributing to Nigeria’s technology and digital economy.
