TCN ANNOUNCES OUTAGES IN ENUGU, ABUJA
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced scheduled power outages in parts of Enugu State and Abuja due to maintenance work on its Kubwa and New Haven Enugu 132/33kV substations.
In a statement released on Tuesday via its official X handle, TCN explained that the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to enhance power supply reliability across its network.
According to the company, the Enugu-New Haven maintenance will run from October 22 to October 31, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily.
“TCN wishes to clarify that this is not a total system shutdown for Enugu State. To minimise disruption, the work has been carefully planned to affect only one 33kV feeder per day on a rotational basis,” the statement read.
The company further noted that Enugu has 24 feeders, and the rotational approach ensures most parts of the state will continue receiving power during the maintenance period.
“Customers in areas served by these feeders will experience power interruption only on the day their specific feeder is isolated,” TCN added, emphasizing that the temporary outage is necessary to ensure worker safety and protect equipment under maintenance.
In Abuja, the company announced a separate preventive maintenance scheduled for October 21, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Kubwa 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The exercise involves replacing a 33kV circuit breaker, which will temporarily interrupt bulk power supply to the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) serving areas such as Army Resettlement, Papal Ground, Aso Garden, FO1, Kubwa Extension, Chikakore, Dantata Estate, IITA Farms, Royal Champion Church, and other surrounding communities.
TCN assured residents that normal electricity supply will be restored immediately after the completion of the scheduled works.
